HOME SALES STATISTICS: In a press release to the Maine media today, MREIS indicates the median sales price (MSP) of existing homes sold in Maine in August 2010 reached $169,750, an increase of 4.27% compared with August 2009. The median sales price (MSP) indicates that half of the homes sold for more and half sold for less. Unit home sales in Maine decreased 9.52% during the same time period. Single-family existing home sales across the U.S. are down 19.2 percent. NAR reports the national median sales price rose 1.2% to $179,300. In the Northeast, median sales prices increased 7.6% to $260,300 while sales decreased 24.4 percent. The complete press release is posted at http://mainerealtors.com
