MAY HOME SALES DOWN: In a press release to the media today, MREIS reports that statewide real estate sales of single family, existing homes decreased 18.56% during the month of May when compared with the same month the prior year; and a statewide median sales price drop of just over 2 percent to $193,000 in May. The median sales price indicates that half of the homes were sold for more and half sold for less. When statistics from the months of March, April and May 2007 are combined and compared to the same period last year, the statewide median sales price increased 1.56% to $195,000. Sales units were down 14.85% in the rolling quarter. NAR calculated a 10.8% drop in single family, existing homes in May 2007. The median sales price for those homes dipped 2.4% to $223,000 during the past 12 months. In the Northeast, regional existing home sales were down 3.5 percent. The median sales price reached $282,700, a 0.5% increase.

When statistics from the months of March, April and May 2007 are combined and compared to the same period last year, the statewide median sales price actually rose 1.56 percent to $195,000. Sales were down 14.85 percent in the rolling quarter.
